My husband and I had a discussion about Christmas gifts for this holiday season and decided we would upgrade our home theater by purchasing this Philips 47PFL5704D 47" LCD TV. It's a 47" screen, which is large enough to take up the entire center part of our built in home theater in the living room and I know we will get hours of fantastic entertainment from it. This is a 1080p LCD widescreen HDTV and besides the awesome picture and sound that these new TVs have, it's also energy efficient, having the Energy Star label. We have a smaller TV for our home theater right now and it's also an LCD set and throws out so much less heat than the old CRT TVs do.
I can imagine the excitement that our kids will feel when we unveil this Philips 47" TV. It won't fit under the tree, so we'll hide it away in the garage until the time is right for opening presents. We'll have to wrap some empty boxes to create the illusion of smaller Christmas gifts for the kids. They are young teens so they expect a few smaller gifts, not a 47" addition to the home theater.
We found this Philips TV online at a website that had lots to choose from. It's Home Online Direct located at www.homeonlinedirect.com. We are getting a great deal on this TV, so much better than we could find it locally, so it's almost a no brainer for Christmas.
The kids love to hook up their Wii games to the home theater, and we all have a really fun time playing them. My cousin has a LCD widescreen HDTV this large and it's just awesome to watch movies or TV shows on and play games. In fact, they're the ones who introduced us to screens that large. It's one thing to see them in a big box store and another in your own home. Our existing TV is only 19" so the new one will more than double the picture and since this is 1080p, the picture quality will be even higher than what we are used to.
This spring when TV stations made the switch to digital, we got rid of our old CRT televisions and didn't want to make a big investment in the new technology until we tried it out. Now that we have, we are more than sold on it and are willing to spend more on our home theater because we have found that we spend a lot less money going out for our entertainment. This 47" LCD widescreen HDTV is just a little over $1,000, and we will easily save that in a year by staying at home to watch movies and play games as a family. It's the classic gift that keeps on giving.
